Q a day: day 3&4 πŸ’œ

Okay all you cool cats & kittens… 🐱

Remember that ? lol CAROL BASKINS… I feel like that documentary was such pivotal moment, the first chapter in which we all came together at the beginning of COVID-19 lockdown.

Those times weren’t the best of times but it seems so distant and weirdly I feel nostalgic to it because at that point things were weird and hard but nothing like what is going on with the world today. Same president, different term, but nothing crazy with what is going on now.

But this blog isn’t for that so I’ll shush.

For my job, I have to shush.

For taking care of my boys and to provide for them, I have to shush… while I support my friends and family who don’t have to shush.

I will be free one day.

Okay so Q of the day. YEAH HEY that is what we’re doing.. let’s get it.

Q3 What habit do you have now that you never expected to?

Hmm well any habit I have now that’s like structured adult routine is a surprise for me lol. Look, my adhd isn’t just the standard meme of Dug the dog from UP getting distracted by squirrels. I have squirrels yeah but they’re at a rave.

And I used to hate routine.. I used to hate “habits”. It was so boring and too mundane. I lived naively and romantically by the glimmers in the day.. I would just follow the spontaneous energy I could float on.

When it came to adult responsibilities though, they were all over the place. But at some point I got tired of things not working out because I wasn’t allowing myself to have structure and therefore, a foundation. With kids, I really needed to have foundation not only for myself but for us all.

So that meant, creating routine and good habits to take care of my clothing, to make the bed, to take care of my hair better, to remove the makeup after work before zonking out on the bed. I created routines like stretching in the morning and before bed, routines like a more set schedule to grocery shop even and a structure to how I shopped what was needed. It created structure for myself but again for my boys. Something they could rely on, to be safe with, and to grow stronger and better humans… to not make the mistakes I made growing up. It also gave me control of my finances in ways I never felt.

So that leads to the number one habit I developed that surprises me the most and that is my daily obsessive check-in’s to my financial spreadsheets πŸ˜…πŸ€“

And let me tell you, when I went to college after flight attending… I started with Accounting. I liked the projected salary it would give and math always came easy for me so why not. Well, after my first semester Accounting I … I was DONE. I loathed accounting and realized it was everything I hate- boring and mundane with no flavor of life. I hated excel. I hated spreadsheets. Yes, I could grasp it but ick. Lmao 🀣  I changed my major immediately to Business Admin with a minor of Marketing. Graduated just fineeeee and overly expressed how much I hated accounting.

Fast forward past all the years I had of bad credit card advice and bad bad habits. After different chapters thinking I knew how best to save and how to budget, how to invest and how to use a credit card to up my credit… as Grinch would say… WRONGO.

So here we are mid 30s and funny enough… we unlocked financial knowledge, like someone handed me the key. (Dave Ramsey and his network of advice did to be honest) and now the skies have parted and now we geek and die hard on spread sheets. I feel incomplete without that habit of daily going into my financial spreadsheets and updating balances and crunching numbers to see where we are and where we are heading for goals we have in the next ten years but for how we retire. lol

 FULL GRANDMA NERD MODE. πŸ‘΅

Spreadsheets and accounting.. lol it has me shooketh but never changing that habit. πŸ‘πŸ’œ

Q4 What does “home” smell like to you?

Hmm.. well I would say there’s levels to This.

So when I come home to my town area, I know I’m home when I smell the mushroom farms oddly in the air… because that’s how it is in the farmland we are in. I come home from a busier town/city and I know I’m home every time when I smell what most would hate.

When I come to my actual farm home, I smell the air, the air that flows through our pine trees in the fields. I smell the sweetness of the wine grapes when ripe on the vines. I smell rain on the pond when it’s one of those lovely cozy days.

When I step inside, the scents of *home* are a mix of my amber vanilla candles and incense. They are of my children as they give me big “MOMMY YOU'RE HOME” hugs. πŸ«‚πŸ₯° and I get to nuzzle into them.. then, another important smell of home would be my hubby. The way he smells like farmer, rugged and maybe a little rustic if he was working on the tractor… the faint smell of his deodorant that he let me pick for him because it smells….Manly.. he smells of pine trees and coconut hair conditioner. Some may think an odd combo but it’s the good stuff 🀌 I SWEARS !

So yeah there we go.

*

Okay let’s throw in a silly Q as bonus to shake thangs up.

Q. What fictional character do you irrationally hate?

hmm okay.. I keep thinking of some and well, they don’t work because I can truly explain with full rationality why to hate them and most would agree. The point of this Q is why I irrationally- no rhyme or reason hate them… I’m also trying to keep it to characters of those that can be known and referenced by most too. .

Elena Gilbert. From Vampire Diaries.

Look I love that Damon found his love and got the girl. It’s just the girl I can’t stand. I love him but f that broad. She’s just a self righteous ick to me and pretentious. Okay I know her having a strong nice moral compass is great and probably speaks volumes on me but Idc. I’m irrationally annoyed by her and hating her so BAM πŸ’₯ TAKE THAT. I’m a hater I guess lol. πŸ˜‚

Okies that’s all folks. I’m sleepy. TIL tomorrow. I love you okay bye πŸ’œ
